AM/NS India is an integrated flat carbon steel producer formed in December 2019 as a 60:40 joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel Corporation, built around the former Essar Steel's Hazira plant acquired through India's insolvency process. Its Hazira facility in Gujarat has 9 million tonnes per annum of crude steel capacity spanning iron-making to downstream rolling and coated products. The company is investing about Rs 60,000 crore to expand Hazira to 15 MTPA and, since March 2025, has been acquiring land in Andhra Pradesh for a new 7.3 MTPA integrated steel plant.

Documented, per-company risks — grouped by the categories the research itself recorded. There is no risk score here, because we do not compute one.
AM/NS India's roughly Rs 60,000 crore Hazira expansion to 15 MTPA requires sustained capital commitments from its JV parents at a time of cyclical global steel oversupply and pricing pressure from low-cost imports.
